Redhill Signal Box

Like the Bachmann two-storey office block (see the Police Station page) their L&NWR style signal box was a ‘must have’ item. Needless to say, just like the office building by the time I purchased one they have become a familiar item. The box does need some things doing to it to make it fit in on the layout, a repaint into 1970’s black and white and an interior are top of the list. Of course, those steps are rather chunky and could do with being replaced as do the finials and a window platform would be nice.

Now, Churchward Models produce a kit for something remarkably similar and will even sell the stairs as a spare part. I am sorely tempted to upgrade to the kit which comes in around the same price as the ‘ready-to-plonk’ example. Or perhaps even go for the London Road Models kit which is for a smaller box - better suited to Redhill’s size.

Decisions, decisions. In the meantime the Bachmann model can act as a placeholder.
