05/06/07: Flat Earth Society

Over the last week or so I have been cutting and temporarily fixing 9mm MDF to the baseboard frames. Now that this has been done I can draw out the roadways in situ.

As an aside I have also built this 5’x4’ baseboard for a Drive a train layout for the village school’s summer fete. There will be two ovals of track along with an Inglenook Sidings yard which gives the potential for three locos to be in action at once. The centre section may be filled with a village - depending on progress between now and the fete. It will serve as an operating well for my seven year old son should he be minded to play with it.

Some shops on Wibdenshaw

At the end of May I visited Railex, the Risborough & District Model Railway Club's annual exhibition. This was an excellent show with high-quality layouts and a good selection of traders. It was a pleasure to see both Kier Hardy’Wibdenshaw and Chris Nevard‘s Cement Quay. Some pictures of the various layouts on display can be found on RMWEB.
