25/05/07: Can You Tell What It Is Yet?The third update in less than a fortnight! The baseboard frames for the scenic section are now complete and fitted with locating dowels and bolts. Cross members will be added later, once I know exactly where they are needed and won’t foul any under-baseboard gubbins. Each frame is made up from beams consisting of two lengths of 3mm plywood glued to 44mm x 18mm timber spacers. Braces of 18mm x 18mm timber are screwed and glued inside each corner. The locating dowels and bolts (from Red Dog, 9 Harcourt, Bradwell, Milton Keynes, MK13 9EN - free catalogue, mail order only) are mounted in holes drilled through suitably positioned spacers. Work can now start of the track and road bed which will be cut from 9mm MDF. |
