The Railway

The railway will, to all intents and purposes, be a backdrop to the roadway system. Redhill, like Brownhills, is situated on the line from Lichfield (City) to Walsall. In reality the passenger service through Brownhills disappeared in the early 1960s howver, using modellers licence, I have maintained it (albeit under PTE auspices) with the typical 3-car DMUs shuttling back and forth.

The double track line will run from end to end of the layout, with a sector plate (or possibly traverser) at either end. Whilst I would like to run something other than a single DMU so far I have been unable to squeeze any extra facilities into the available space.

The DMU, a blue 3 car Lima Class 117 is in stock along with the SIlver Fox kit to convert one of the driving coaches from a brake to fullly seated and a Chris Leigh detailing kit which includes new domes to convert the Pressed Steel front ends into Derby ones making a typical West Midlands 116.
